As I step into the role of CEO at Mikro Grafeio, I find myself reflecting on our journey and the path ahead. It's a moment filled with excitement and purpose. Our story is not solely about creating workspaces - I want to transform overlooked cities into thriving business hubs and bring opportunities to communities that have been waiting for their moment to shine.
The Beauty of Shared Leadership
Years ago, someone asked me how important it is to have one strong leader for a project to succeed. My answer then is the same as it would be today: You don't always need just one leader. What you really need is a clear, shared vision - and a team that truly believes in it.
That's exactly how Mikro Grafeio came to life. Not through the efforts of a single visionary, but through four friends united by one big dream: to unlock the potential of emerging India, to bring opportunities closer to where people live, and to create workspaces that make jobs accessible, inclusive, and local.

From the beginning, each of us led in our own way - stepping forward when the time felt right, always supported by the others. Santhosh Mahalingam guided us as CEO during those critical first two years, building our foundation and ensuring we were well-funded through every phase of our growth.
When Jaishankar Seetharaman took the helm, it was exactly when we needed to dream bigger. Under his leadership, we didn't just grow - we soared. Today, we stand proud with 45 offices across 23 cities, serving over 130 clients, and a robust enterprise business built with both precision and heart.
Passing the Baton
When Shankar casually mentioned, "I think it's time you take over," I responded honestly: "It's impossible to fill your shoes."
With his characteristic smile, he said, "You're not supposed to. You need your own shoes now - to run faster." And then, in classic Shankar style, he laughed and added, "The hard part's done... don't be the one to mess it up." (I'll admit I didn't sleep for two nights after that conversation!)
But I take comfort in knowing I'm not running this race alone. Shyam Kumar joined us as our fifth co-founder along the way, bringing fresh insights and energy. And now, Mohan V Mathew steps into the role of Chairman, guiding us with his calm presence and deep experience.
The Magic of Transformation
At Mikro Grafeio, I see possibilities where others see limitations. The tier 2 and 3 cities across India are untapped wells of talent, innovation, and growth waiting to be activated. Our approach goes beyond simply setting up desks and chairs; we transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary centers of productivity.
I've seen first hand the ripple effects of our work. When we establish a center in a city like Coimbatore or Calicut, we are playing an active role catalyzing economic development, enabling businesses to tap into local talent pools, reducing migration pressures, and breathing new life into communities.
This transformative impact extends beyond economics. Professionals who once had to leave their hometowns for career opportunities can now build meaningful careers while staying connected to their roots. Businesses quickly discover that these emerging cities offer tangible benefits beyond cost advantages alone.
Nurturing Local Economies and Sustainability
One aspect of our mission that truly energizes me is how our centers breathe life into local economies. When we enter a city along with customers and partners, an entire ecosystem thrives, supporting local entrepreneurs, vendors, and service providers. From the local caterer who supplies our pantry to the maintenance teams who keep our spaces running, we prioritize partnering with businesses from the community.
This approach creates a beautiful multiplier effect - for every direct job created at a Mikro Grafeio center, several indirect jobs emerge in the surrounding community. Local restaurants see more foot traffic, transportation services expand, schools see new enrollment and retail shops gain new customers.
Sustainability is equally central to our vision. We're committed to reducing our environmental footprint through energy-efficient designs, waste reduction programs, and renewable energy solutions where possible. But sustainability goes beyond environmental considerations, and we aim to create lasting positive impact. We design our centers to be sustainable business ecosystems that contribute to the long-term development of the cities we serve.
The Road Ahead
As I look to the future, I see Mikro Grafeio continuing to push boundaries about where work happens. Our vision extends beyond our current footprint of 45 centers across 23 cities. We aim to be present in every significant tier 2 and 3 city in India, creating a truly distributed network of high-quality workspaces.
We'll remain committed to our core mission of creating opportunities in tier 2 and 3 cities, driving balanced economic growth across India. Each workspace we create represents hundreds of professionals who can build careers in their hometowns, and dozens of businesses that can thrive in new markets.
The Power of Community
Perhaps what excites me most about our future is the community we're building. Each Mikro Grafeio center becomes a hub of innovation, collaboration, and growth. Within our spaces, startups work alongside established enterprises, local talents connect with global opportunities, and new ideas flourish.
We're creating ecosystems, not just workspaces. Through strategic partnerships with educational institutions, government bodies, and industry associations, we're helping to build comprehensive business environments in emerging cities. These partnerships ensure a steady pipeline of talent, supportive policies, and integrated business networks that make these locations truly viable for long-term success.
An Invitation to Join Us
To the businesses considering expansion beyond metros: come see what's possible in India's emerging cities. The talent is there, the infrastructure is ready, and the opportunities are waiting.
To our clients, partners, and team members: thank you for believing in our vision and being part of this journey. Your trust and collaboration have made everything we've achieved possible.
As Mikro Grafeio enters this new chapter, I'm reminded of something I deeply believe: our magic isn't in doing the impossible - it's in seeing the possibilities where others don't, and making them real. With creativity, commitment, and collective effort, we'll continue to transform India's workspace landscape, one city at a time.
The baton has been passed to me, but we've never been running alone. Together, we'll create a future where opportunity isn't concentrated in a few urban centers, but flourishes across India's cities and towns.
